Oil drain pan
Catches the old oil and, if you choose well, carries it to the recycler without a spill.

Where to buy
02
Why you need it
- Hot oil comes out fast and sideways. A wide pan catches the arc when you pull the plug.
- Sealed pans with a spout and cap let you drive the oil straight to the parts store for free recycling.
- An open pan plus a funnel and old jugs works, but it is where most driveway stains come from.
03
What to look for
- Capacity above your engine’s oil capacity with room to spare: 8 quarts minimum for cars, 16 for trucks and diesels. Check your vehicle page for the exact number.
- A wide, low opening. Tall narrow pans miss the stream.
- Sealed drain-and-carry pans need a vent cap that actually seals; cheap ones weep.
- Anti-splash grate on open pans keeps the first gush from bouncing out.
